2025 Arkansas Black Bear - sucked into it again

This was not a welcome sight over the weekend. The white oak acorns were scattered and not abundant yet. Hopefully the rain might help hold them for a while. I put grain in my roller barrel yesterday and had pics of one sow roaming through with no bait before I filled the barrel. I plan to start my bait Sunday afternoon with a buffet of grains, sweets and scents. I hope to bait every 3-4 days until "go time ". It's going to be a long few weeks...

I'm doing that too

start with nuts/bread

different liquids on top like syrups and caramel

2 baits before I hunt hit 'em with donuts

I have had about four show up around camera's all month. One cinnamon that is my goal has been the most regular. I opened the bait today. Will refresh as needed each weekend and Wednesday. Will do Wednesday morning before hunt again like I usually do. If you have bread, make some peanut butter sandwiches and scatter in the barrel. Last time mine loved that and had pics of one more than once sitting and eating a sandwich like a person.

Yeah that’s the plan. She gets first dibs. Only running the one bait, so have all our bear eggs in one basket. She may change her mind about shooting little BooBoo after the first couple days if nothing shows, but I’m hoping to get her on a decent bear. She’s been practicing with her new crossbow every day. I wouldn’t want her shooting at me. Lord willing it all plays out well.

My bears aren't acting as they have in years past. They stop by hit the food for 2-3 minutes and gone. Don't know if there are more baits in the area or what. There are a few acorns but not many. Actually there were more last year.

I’m seeing the same. Typically they spend hours at the baits. This year it’s a few minutes and gone. I’ve got one bait that’s not been hit yet.

I’m experiencing the exact opposite. I’ve got them waiting in line like chickens with a pecking order. There’s bears on my bait all night long. Had three at one point last night. Soon as they leave another shows up.
