So this new AGFC rule has given me a good excuse to get a new rifle. Brief online research has me leaning towards the .450 bushmaster. What do you guys think?
Northern states limit to muzzleloader, shotgun, or straightwall to limit the maximum range of firearms due to population density. Arkansas is allowing it in lew of a muzzleloader. You still can hunt with bottleneck cartridges during modern gun. What's the Diff ?
Curious how Blackhorn/300 compares to 45-70 300 gr Barnes pointed bullet @2600+ fps? That’s easily achieved & more. Don’t think need that much velocity is required for a dead hold out to 200 yd gun. Hoping to find a sweet spot between 2300 & 2500, for less recoils sake. Then again, most of us won’t be shooting that load very often.I am not seeing many that exceed or equal what a good charge of Blackhorn behind a 300 grain bullet does.
There is just the reliability that is the attraction to me.

I offered once upon a time.....you rejected the offer.Like to shoot with ya sometime, Sir.. 👍
Any modern design rifle will handle some heavy 45-70......just don't try them in a trap door.A #1 load is a different ball game than most of the.other straight walls and I realize it is a step up in power.
Please Accept my Apologies Sir.. 😞🙏😞I offered once upon a time.....you rejected the offer.
With the right powders, handloaders can get over 2400 with a 300 gr & over 2600 with a 250 gr in a Marlin lever gun. Really don’t think most of us need it for a 200 yd rifle, but it’s there if you want to put up with the recoil.A #1 load is a different ball game than most of the.other straight walls and I realize it is a step up in power.
On your shoulder…
