My 22LR's are zero'd at 35 yards and the 17's at 50. 22 Mag also at 50.

 

40 gr 22lr zero at 25yds.
17 gr 17hmr zero at 50yds.

 

.22 mag at 50 yards.

 

Always sight my .22 rifles dead on at 40 yds. 40 grain LR solids, is all that I use.

 

22 or 22 mag 50 yard zero

 

40 gr solid bullets sighted in at 20 yards.

Are those of you shooting solids only taking head shots?

 

I think I sighted mine in at 16 yards and that made it good out to 50 yards you will either hit a little high or a little low. I always aim at where their eyeball is so if I hold it on him there are no brains to save for those that eat them. Don't hold me too that. I read it somewhere on a website and it's been working for me. Their little heads is all I shoot at but frequently hit them other than where I am aiming, I don't know how that happens, but shooting solids most times I never lose any meat which is why I do not shoot hollow points...d2

I only head shoot squirrels. I don't eat brains.

I try my best to take head shots, not going to spend too much time waiting for that shot

Nope. But I will certainly take head shots if close enough with my 4x scopes. I often aim for their shoulder, they usually never move when hit there, they just drop. You don't need a hollow point to stop a squirrel....& they make a mess if you have to shoot one in the body.

Yep. If I wanted gutshot squirrels I'd use a shotgun.

 

25 yards's.zero out to 100 yds.From my Mossberg 715T,3/9 Bushnell tac.50 mil scope,shoot Armscor USA 36 grain hollow point.Aim for the head When using solid bullets sometimes get a pass through and Squirrel may crawl off into rock or hollow log.Dead on impact with Hollow PT.We sell tails to MEP's lure co. and another lure co. in Mountain Home for over 40 year's.We shoot a lot of squirrel's with a 22. each season.If you have not looked at the Mossberg 715T unreal the accuracy.Not trying to sell.Shoot a remington and marlin for years and they are good.The rifle is accurate but the scope is the deal.for accuracy.lot of folks buy a high dollar 22 put a cheap scope and wonder why it rifle will not shoot.

 

I have drifted toward killing squirrels with a Beeman Air Rifle that has a 22 and/or a 17 barrel. I really like the 22 cal. pellet the best for squirrels and have shot and killed Groundhogs with it. All one shot kills and very accurate out to 75 yards. I put a 4x Tasco fixed power scope on it and just really like the setup.
Never cared much for an air rifle until I got this one. :thumb:

What model Beaman are yall using? i have been interested in getting a 22 caliber air rifle for squirrel but have not been impressed with accuracy so far. I bought a Remington Summit in 177 caliber about 8 years ago and was not impressed with the accuracy. $200 will buy a plenty accurate Marlin 22.

 

I don't see a model number on it. Just the name "Beeman" and it comes with two barrels 22cal &17cal. Bought mine at Walmart (about $89) and a round tin box of pellets (250) either .22 or .17 is about $6.00 per tin. The pellets pack a punch and are relative cheap compared to .22 Rim Fire Ammo.

Some real high quality stuff can go for high prices. But I sure like the Beeman rifle that I have.

I'll just take her word for it!!

When I started hunting squirrels I started with a 22 and doing head shots. My dad always said I was wasting the best part by head shooting them. :biggrin:

 

I've never taken the time to crack one's skull open. Is there enough brain to be worth messing with. Everyone I've talked to that used to eat them has quit for some reason, even though they swear brain is the best part.

 

I just ain't been that hungry yet. :biggrin:

 

If they're the best why don't more folks eat them? I don't know anyone personally that eats them now and I don't feel like trying them on my own.

 

I still eat em along with the tongue and cheeks.
