I have had the best "rut experience" where I hunt in Kansas between the 7th-15th of November.

 

I'm not sure there is a "peak time" that you can predict in advance. I think so much of it depends on the weather and location up there. I was there November 1-6 last year and it was DEAD (weather was hot and rainy). A cold front moved in on our last day and then some guys were there the next 5 days and saw about 50 bucks and got shots at some huge deer. I think the 5th through the 15th of November is a good target but cold weather will make all the difference IMO

I've hunted Kansas quite a bit in the last ten years. The 4 years I lived in KC i hunted Kansas really hard. The first week of November has always been a bust for me. Regardless of weather.

But like you said, location determines a lot.

Weather don't influence it. The last week of November is the time. Don't get in a big hurry, we ain't talking about Iowa.

 

I like to hunt Nov 1-10 ...... I don't want any does being in heat when I hunt, the big boys take them and hide for days and you'll never see them IMO

It sure has influenced it based on my experience. It was all over by the third week in November. The last week was dead. All depends on where you are I guess

 

I think I am gonna try the week after our modern gun hunt here which will be the 15th thru 22nd. The new moon will be on the 22nd so as far as moon phase it should be good. Hopefully the weather will cooperate. Thanks for the imput guys.

IMO, that is a fine time to go.

Not to steal the thread but I have a question about hunting Kansas. I have access to a fairly large amount of private ground in north Kansas, my grandpa is wanting to go this fall and I'm trying to find out what I need to do to get a liscense. Gun or bow doesn't matter, I just want to hunt legally...

the draw ended last week but you may be able to get a leftover tag....do you know what unit you would be hunting in? here's a map

Got an idea of what it may cost??

 

Kansas general NR is about $72 and the deer tag will cost you about $325.

The landowner is my grandpas friend from Vietnam, he lives in Frankfort. We went up there 8-9 years ago and seen some absolute monsters riding around at night. I want to try to do a deer/predator hunt if my grandpa will tag along. He's not much for getting far from the truck.

 

2nd or 3rd full week in November. I Have been 1st,2nd,and 3rd week in the past, but the 2nd and 3rd weeks seem to be the best from my experience...

 

The week before Thanksgiving is best bet in my opinion, or somewhere between Nov. 12th and 20th. This is from my experience near Pratt area.
