2025 Arkansas Black Bear - sucked into it again

last 2 weeks pretty dry but the forecast isn't super wet

this front coming in this week could help a lot - ya'll know how it is, acorns start falling and bears stop coming. One reason I'm trying peanuts/cashews ... they're nuts. But I just looked them up .... not as close to white oaks as I'd hoped :( acorns have the highest carbohydrate content among most nuts. In comparison to walnuts, for example, acorns are over three times higher in carbohydrates



white oak acorn
  • Protein: Around 6-9%.
  • Carbohydrates: Approximately 70%.
  • Fat: Around 10%.

Cashews

  • Protein: Around 12%
  • Carbohydrates: Approximately 21%
  • Fat: Around 67%.

peanuts
  • Protein: 22%-34%
  • Carbohydrates: 6%-24%
  • Fat: 44%-56%

Peanuts are legumes. Bread is super high in carbs. You thought about using hazel nut flavored oil? That’s all that the gold bear grease flavoring is except it’s butterscotch. Hard candy flavoring is much cheaper and 100’s of flavors. Worth a google.

Other than a sprinkle that did nothing a few weeks ago, we havent had rain in a month here.

That’s Clay Newcomb’s magazine. He’s a member here, or used to be. I haven’t seen him post in a long time. He’s a good guy. I’ve written for him in the past.
