Could be, but from a night pic you can’t be for sure. They get all kinds of stuff stuck to them from the syrup and oil we leave at baits. It looks like she’s taking it well if an arrow went through her back.

Nothing surprises me anymore. I was talking to a guy and he showed me a pic of a sow and cub coming to his bait. He said he thought the sow was big enough to shoot. I replied it was a good one but against the law to shoot a sow with cubs. He didnt have a clue that was against rules. Pulled up the rules on my phone and showed him that and cant shoot one with collar. Showed him you have to send tooth and hair in. He was dumbfounded. Amazes me when people dont read the rules.

We were but went fishing and busted a heater core hose on the way back into camp. It’s a LONG ride by 4 wheeler to the other side. And they haven’t liked us being there in the afternoons. So the bears get a day off this afternoon, and hopefully they come in during shooting hours. Then going back in tomorrow and rebait, move the blind around a little, and give it one last shot before we head home early for Church Sunday. Hopefully the quota stays open another week or two. I don’t want to run a bait for another month til ML/alternative season.

Do you think the blind is the problem, or did y'all get winded?

Not really sure. After all the tips and tricks of geographically blocking in your stand that have been shared here, I’m rethinking my entire setup. Bears definitely aren’t deer. Something they didn’t like for sure. I’m interested to see if they immediately start hitting the bait during day light again. Lots of bears there last night. I might need some more terrain change the funnel thermals better. Might need to hide the ground blind better. Might just need to go up 20’ in the air. I’m not @QuailRidge so don’t expect that expert advice outta me….(never thought you’d hear that did ya??)

you're not a conservationist/sportsmen then I see ... I'd think an ass beating for the man shooting a mama with 3 cubs would be acceptable
It’s not actually illegal to shoot a sow with cubs; it’s discouraged by G&F, but it’s not a violation. Legal or not, it’s a jackass move.

Are you still getting photos? Can you tell if it’s an arrow hit?

It’s not a violation to shoot a sow with cubs. It’s discouraged by G&F, but it’s not technically illegal. It is illegal to shoot one with a radio collar, in a den, or in front of dogs. Shooting a sow with cubs is a low down thing to do, but that guy won’t get prosecuted for it.
