hey there.. well I'm 17 and I'm just REALLY getting into hunting with my dad. I know he is on here, but I'm not quite sure what his handle is. I really enjoy hunting, it's just that the Felsenthal Wildlife Refuge hasn't got the best places to hunt. so I was wondering if anyone knew of any hotspots they would be willing so share with me.

thanks in advance guys.
I appreciate it.

Welcome to the board. Zone 12's open public opportunities are quite limited other than Casey Jones properties and Felsenthal. You may be able to find a landowner nearby who would like to have some help around the farm this summer in exchange for hunting on his property.
I think Felsenthal has some awesome places to hunt. I have never been and not filled a tag or two. The deer are generally not big but there are plenty of them. I'd give my left leg to find a lease close to there.
Big Timbers WMA

Big Timbers around Okalona/Gurdon area gets crowed but you'll get to shoot something.....
Isn't that new WMA Moro Bay or something like that in zone 12?
Felsenthal has some of the best hunting in the state, but it's just like any other place, ya got to find a honey hole.
Shhhhhhhhhhhhh

Hey boy,,I just realized that you posted this lol,,you just be quiet about Felsenthal,,there ain't no deer in these parts..
The Refuge

Used to not be that way until the hordes of gun hunters started coming here with the "if it's brown it's down" menality..Not trying to stir anything with you Ozark,,just stating a fact that I KNOW to be a fact..I live here & have hunted the refuge since it's inception & it's just pitiful..Of course the Refuge folks don't give a manure,,as long as they can cut trees for Woodpecker Estates,,make 12.50 a person to gun hunt,,& turn 1000s of acres of prime hardwood forest into their DeadTree Duck(less)Weed Resevoir,,& have a few black bears ( so they can say they're contributing ) then they're really doin some good..If I didn't love the place so much & didn't have so many wonderful & treasured memories up there,,I'd never set foot in there again..But I reckin it's addictive,,it's like my Heaven On Earth(with not near as many deer tracks as once there was )...
