My son has a permit to hunt Hope Upland's youth hunt this weekend. I saw a sign out there today while looking around that said "Please bring all harvested deer to the collection data site for data collection" Does anyone know if that is voluntary or will we receive a citation if we check a deer from that WMA but don't take it for data collection?

Why wouldn't you go to the data collection? Might be a good educational experience for your son to see how that is done, and what sort of data they collect.

One thing is Hope Upland is walk in only. I don't care to have to drag a deer out if we're deep in the WMA just so they can collect there data.

Go get them, and take em to the deer. After they get there data, hand em a leg and start dragging!

In years past, they would drive back in there and retrieve deer for the youth hunt.

Yes they have absolutely NO problem going and getting ur deer
