I been on a "canned" hunt in Baxter Springs, KS and I have hunted wild pheasant in multiple states. The guy in Baxter Springs has the closest thing to hunting wild birds I have ever seen.

Here is his website: http://www.showmebirds.com

The owner's name is Kim Shira. He is a nice gentleman. I met him at the Big Buck Classic several years ago. He has great operation. If you happent go there, take an afternoon hunt. You are allowed to shoot any birds left by other hunters in addition to your allocated birds. On our trip we bought a package for 8 pheasant and 5 chukar. We ended up shooting 14 pheasant, 6 chukar, and a few quail.

You could hunt is KS relatively cheap. I have hunted from Southcentral, Central, to Southwest KS and have had very good luck gaining permission from land owners to hunt there property. They also have great walk- in areas (open to the public) and plenty of them.

Nothing wrong with a canned hunt to get your fix, but if you really want to go on a pheasant hunt, you owe it to yourself to go somewhere on wild birds.
My dad loves bird hunting, and we buy our own birds to keep the dogs in shape. Generally, the best flying pen-raised birds in my experience are chukars.

A few years ago we bought my dad a hunt at Show me birds for his birthday. My brother in law and I took him up there and hunted also. Very nice place and operation. The guide/dog handler we had was a really nice guy. They make it a point to make sure you have a good time while you are there.

Some of the guys that I work with at my "real" job have been to show me birds too. I will go to this place that I found because its close to home. I will go to the other place as soon as I can get some time. I thought some of yall might want to try this place because you dont have to drive 8 hours to get there.

There are actually several places in Arkansas. I looked before when my Dad was alive because he always wanted to go pheasant hunt because he loved quail hunting so much growing up. We never got to go because of chemo treatements, but here are some more places.

This one is in Mt. Vernon and you get to shoot other hunters extras too...
