went crappie fishing yestiddy. winds gusting about 25 mph so i fished from the bank. i would cast upwind, and let my minner drift back to the bank. looked up and one of my bobbers was headed south, right into the wind. i set the hook, and started trying to get it to the bank. it was a pretty hefty fight on 4lb test line, on an ultralight spinning reel. i finally landed her, and she musta just swam through and got tangled in my line, because it was wrapped around her, right behind the gills, and the hook was hooked back into the line!!! she was 23 inches long, and real healthy. what do ya'll reckon she weighed? i released her after taking the pics, and they dont do her justice....enjoy, BG12

That's a fine lookin' bass BG12...even if you did "foul hook" her! :thumb:

Nice fish, I'm not really good at guessing weights for fish & antler scores for deer, but I would say that she might go 6-7 pounds. :dontknow:
i was thinking 7ish. i know the best way to position a 120 inch buck to make it looke like a 140, but i take pics of a 7lb fish and it looks like 3lbs:smack: BG12
Ought to go around 6-7 for sure, maybe a little more this time of year.
Getting high time to wet a hook ain't it.
Now that's country - never heard of anyone lassoing a fish before. :thumb: Nice catch!

Heck, I'd go ahead and call it a nine pounder...it would be a lot easier if you lose those pics.....I happen to have a nine pound bass on the wall, but its 29" long, and a wee bit fatter. If you take the length, and girth measurements, you can calculate the weight to within an ounce or two! It was definitely at least a 5 pound plus fish! CP will likely debunk and mis calculations and know a whale of a lot about long-armin:fit:
well ,when you throw my big arse in the pic, it makes the fish look little:biggrin: BG12

Hahahahaha....you caught that on Ryno's pole did ya??:fit:
She looks about 5 lbs to me, but tomorrow it could easily be all the way up to 7 lbs.
My nephew has one that looks to be about that size on his wall but of course he ain't got the "big arse" problem you got so it's really hard to tell, but his went just a hair over 8.
Wow! That's one heck of a bass. YOU PUT HIM BACK? :smack: I just ain't a fan of the catch and release program.
Congrats :thumb: I'd say 6-7 lbs! This time of year she should be full of eggs, so a 23" could easily weigh this or more.
Hey BG12....GOODERN bud.....:thumb:

If you had taken a belly-around (girth) measure on that gal...we would know real close.

Few bass that are 23" long that won't better six pounds.

By the formula...
Assume a 15" girth and she would weigh 6.62 pounds.
Assume a 17" girth and you have a 7.49 pound total.

For sure a 6 plus.....dandy.
CP, I'm not doubting ya, but how do ya come up with them numbers? Is there a formula or are ya working from personal experiences?
6.25lbs:thumb: BG12 I need some of your luck I have caught a bunch of bass but never one like that! Next time let your fishing buddy hold it up and you can do a Roland Martin- 9 lbs!:thumb:
Nice. That sure is a healthy looking fish! nice full tail and everything. Good job BG12:thumb:
