Worst season in years?

This has been my worst season in years! Started of okay but it is down right depressing right now and this is the time of year I am usually tearing them up. When I heard earlier this year record numbers of ducks I said don't matter I'd they don't come down. I think I jinxed us. How many others having one of thier worst years?

After having one of the best seasons ever last year (crappy hatch and no water) this year has been one of my worst in recent memory (good hatch and plenty of water). It makes one wonder about these reports...I might go once or twice more but I'm not inspired at all.
I am not even hunting in the am. I
Gonna go tomorrow afternoon and try to kill some local geese landing on my bosses property.
Usually you could not pay me to miss a dAy this time of year but now I have no problems doing honey doos. I sure hope she don't get used to this!!!!!
I agree, here it is 2:23am, debating on making the drive to Rainey Brake or going back to bed...
I didn't have any prospects for a decent hunt this morning, and don't feel like breaking ice for nothing like I did yesterday morning. I'm sitting this one out, too. I've learned that just because season is open I don't HAVE TO go, contrary to what I used to believe.
I can't give an honest comparison because I've duck hunted more this year than I have in the last several and been on some good hunts until the last couple weeks. But I've hunted by myself deer hunting for so long that I don't have anyone to hunt with consistently which for me has never been an issue as most times if my dad isn't hunting I'd just as soon hunt alone. But I guess I'm getting soft. I didnt have anyone to hunt with this morning and eventhough I thought I could go kill birds, I didn't feel like making the drive and the long boat ride by myself so I got up for a minute and thought I'd let momma go run and I'd stay home and play with the boys and make breakfast them. I've been hunting pretty hard since Sept. but I'm sure I would have gone if someone else to go with.........I don't even know where that's coming from. I guess I'm getting old and soft. I'll be glad when the boys get a little older and I'll always have a hunting companion!!

No sir...You're just a man that's got his priorities in the right place. I love me a good duck whackin', but I've realized there are way more important things in life.

x2 cleaned carport and yard today.. Finally realized what you just said!!!
I cleaned the house, washed laundry and pilfered around in the wood shop. I don't know about the rest of the state but it was windy here in Batesville today.
I've been having a great year. Went yesterday with a buddy and got our two limits of mallards, gadwalls and woodies. Would have gone again this morning but wife pinned me down for to do list. We've been doing pretty good all 3 splits. Definitely better than last year. Hope you all get into.em' soon.
Well I have went probably 5 times normally I do a 40 day Marathon . I can't really complain because the reason I haven't went is cause I've either worked or didn't have any body to go with . Usually my dad ,brother and me have done hunted every day we could ,but we haven't and the rates my season and my buddy has been tied up so we haven't hunted , but once . As for the Ducks We've been lied to sorry so now you know apparently the Left Hand didn't know what the right hand was doing . It's been fun but not real fun I'm looking forward to dog training , turkey huntin , and crappie fishin .
factory you did the rite thing it was like a skybuster convention at rainey break today:mad:
First two splits were really good. Things have slowed down.

north or south end? Don't know why you're really surprised by that though on the weekend out there :banghead:
It's been mighty good for me. My boy has been home from school since the middle of December and we've gone a couple of times every week since then...haven't shot 2 full limits on any hunt, have spent more $$ on gas, grub and teel shot than i can remember in the past, but this has been the best season I can recall. It's sure not about killing limits or all the other stuff I see folks be so concerned about on some of these boards for me... When this season is in the books, i will remember sharing the sunrises/sunsets over the Grand Prairie with the wind blowing ducks and geese everywhere with my boy; having a hawk hover over me while sitting on a levee; watching the light go on for my son when he realized he was actually talking to the ducks and they were responding; watching my boy retrieve a pintail two fields away from where it was shot...yea I've had a great season!
south end i hunt the south end mainly because i can kill more ducks and get away fro mthe people there
