I agree with Darton, I would like to hear some gossip  I saw pictures of hugh bucks all fall but none of them showed at the BBC. Was it because of the lie detector test that winners have to take? Opinions or answers?

I think a lot of guys that kill big deer just don't care at all about contests, awards, or point systems.

I can take you to a shed in MO where a farmer has hanging no less than 4 B&C racks that are just cut off at the skull and left for the bugs to chew on. And that shed is just one of a multitude like it.

Now I could be wrong, but I believe that the #7 buck listed here, which is the Modern Gun non-typical division is the buck you are talking about. According to the 2008 county winners list, the buck gross scored 195 5/8 (thats a BIG deer)

All results listed here....

Yep....that's it!!!!!!

Broken brow tine cost me a whole lot more than I would have ever imagined!

I received the county award at the BBC and won the Best New Buck at the contest in Jonesboro!

He was bigger than any set of horns at either contest, but the scoring system doesn't factor in "HUGE"........

How does he measure up? scorecards == average .......
.....real life == A FREAKIN' MONSTER!!!!!!!!!!!!

Biggest buck i'm sure I'll ever see......I can't wait to see him on the wall.....thanks for showing interest!!!

*Note: Please don't think that I am trying to cry and moan about the winners of the contests. There were some awesome bucks at both contests. By the official scores, they all deserved everything they got. My buck just didn't quite measure up by the "official score." But, if I had to choose which buck, out of all the ones I have seen at the contests, that I would shoot......it would DEFINITELY be the Monroe County Oak Tree!

Congrats Cornbread! As one of the scorers at the Jonesboro show, I can assure you, yours was/is an AWESOME deer. Maybe you should've waited until next year and he would've grown that point back, and another match for the G-4!! Just Kiddin:biggrin:

I really appreciate that!

I was fairly confident that he didn't have a chance to win any kind of award based on his "official score".

I just knew that he was a very impressive buck based on his overall size and width. I figured there would be alot of hunters that would be excited to see him in person. At both shows, I was overwhelmed by the amount of attention he drew!

Thanks to you and all the judges for voting him Best New Buck! You'll never know how much it means to me for him to get a little of, what I think is, well deserved recognition.

By the way, the Jonesboro show was the best big buck contest I have ever been too. Hopefully, I'll get to see you there again.....though, chances of having another one like this are slim to none......

Here is a picture that my wife took at the show in Jonesboro........

Pic#1 (left) "Overall Winner" -- Perfect 10 point --Awesome buck --He definitely deserved to win!

(right) "Best New Buck" - did not score high
enough to place (deductions!)

(Thanks again to the scorers and spectators!)

There was a 203 (and change) Non-Typical there on Friday and some Saturday that was from Monroe Co. it was killed by a muzzleloader. It would have won the contest. He had 8 inches above book and the 176 that won only had 6 inches.

The guy told Tommy he did not know there was a lie detector test, so he removed the deer from competition on Saturday afternoon. It was a huge deer. Don't know the details, but sure is a shame someone removes a sure winner after finding out they are going to test you just to make sure you took it honestly.

I guess I am not following the list provided. The deer that won the Contest did score 176 and some change net typical but it was from Polk County.

The list he provided just shows the rankings of the non-typical category at the BBC.
