I have E-Tek 25 hp and after my last hunting trip I stopped and filled it up with gas..
I can't remember if I added oil in the gas tank or not. I know it will burn the engine up if I didn't add it..but if I did add it will it hurt to add another bottle?

As others have said. Oil should not be mixed in the tank. Oil only should be put in the oil reservoir within the cowling

ETEC shouldn't have to have oil added.

Spark plugs are cheap. I over mix every tank but I'm also turning some of my motors up to 8,000 rpms

So far, knock on wood, mine has been a great motor. Real easy on gas, smooth idle all night long, and the shifter on the tiller is the cats meow...REMEMBER, if your going to be using it in water where its 32F or below you need to be using the XD100 oil.

Look at the fuel you can tell if there is oil in it.

Listen, You may feel like a bone head, but you were man enough to admite it. I do stupid things all the time. Dont worry about it. How many times has your electricity been off and everytime you go into a room, you reach up and hit the switch and feel like a idiot.

I didn't take the cowling off once to check for dirt dobber nests after the boat had set in the barn all summer...Sucked a dirt dobber nest into the carb. Motor never was right after that.

We all make mistakes. Lord knows I've made my share and then some.

This very thing happened to me once on a 9.9 Johnson. They built a dirt nest in my carb and when I started it, dust flew out and the motor was runt.Neede a ring job. Lost compression ,so I sold it for parts.
