What is this?

    I found these today,there were a ton of them in a dry creekbed.
    Looks kinda like a small hickory nut.

    They look like a Pignut to me.

    I've always heard them called pig nuts.

    I always heard them called pignut hickory. Could be bitter pecan but can't tell without the leaves.

    I never heard them called hickory nuts when i was growing up, everybody called them hicker nuts.
