@Cold beer&lil bucks nailed it. Now is the time to get out of the Duck Hunting business in Arkansas. We have not had even a good season since 2017. There could have been an outrageous tax bill after Mr. McCollum passed away as well.

I hate to see this happen but Tom Dennison at Fort Thompson, McSwain’s and DNW in Jonesboro will pick up the slack. I predict they will all see increased revenue.

I hope Ft Thompson survives
This move has already benefitted Fort Thompson. Mack’s lost a significant portion of their clientelle with this acquisition at the outset. Given the choice, where are you going this season to get Decoys or a box of steel shot besides the 1550 fps, 1-1/8 oz. crap sold at the Meglamarts——-Fort Thompson, McSwain’s, Webb’s or DNW?

I live in Arkansas County. With the overpriced Chene megastore being built, and now this news it is all the talk.
I hope I'm wrong when I say that MPW will soon be filled with Redhead gear and BPS branded items. That stuff is cheap crap.

I rarely shop there anyway and this makes me want to go in even less. I'll continue to give most of my business to Webb's and Hunter's Refuge.
Forgot about HR

They have beat the resources down to nothing. 3 and 30 ain’t happening guy’s the frame work is there but it ain’t happening it is what it is. Every body knows it’s all about the Benjamin’s, Just like a 16 year old street walker use it till it’s gone and and your left with a 40 year old crack *. Look around your community. Used up and no teeth.
That’s just it, they wouldn’t listen. They knew it all and now the Ducks, relative to what I saw 15 or 20 years ago have left the Stuttgart area. I have to be careful. I said I would never criticize a certain game and fish agency here again.

As has been said here earlier by @Cold beer&lil bucks, The McCollum Family and Chuck Lock made a wise decision by unloading Mack’s to Johnny Morris. He has deep pockets. He can weather the storm.

Yep , It’s ALL about Money 💵. Now if BP will simply stock up on Goose Hunting gear , they’ll do just fine. IMHO.
I can remember driving from McSwain’s in North Little Rock to Macks and seeing 5,000 to 10,000 Ducks. By the time you got in Mack’s you were fired up and that purchase you really shouldn’t make was easier to justify. Then on the way back, you might make a loop by George Dunklin’s digs and get fired up all over again seeing all the Greenheads out ib the moist soil unit in front of his house place.

Now the people coming to Mack’s have no idea of how good it used to be. A limit of Wood Ducks has them on fire. If they kill a Greenhead, they are overjoyed. Don’t get me wrong, I am thankful for just seeing the sunrise every day but it’s been getting worse each season for a decade and he the smart, pretty, well connected people just would not listen. Now, they won’t even make it a one-hen limit. I’ve moved on. My son has moved on. A lot of hunters who used to go to Mack’s have moved on.

When that silent hide basic camo shirt and pants go on sale for $29.99, you can't beat that deal. Only way to buy at BPS is if you're in a pinch or they're clearing out inventory.

Only reason I ever went into Macks was for the checkout girls anyhow. Thankfully, I'm about 3 years sober from duck hunting. When my son gets ready to try it - we're going to do it like I had to do it in college. Walk-in, carry all your crap, find a blow-down, kill 2 ducks, walk-out. Going to make sure he falls at least once, too!
Funny you say this. My younger son and I went to Stuttgart to tend to some business this past January. We walked in a couple of places and he had this dismayed look on his face. When we got back in the vehicle, his comments to me were along the lines of: “Dad this is not who we are. This is too stressful and complicated.”

Supposedly Chene putting in a fully stocked retail store.
From what I read it will be 16,000 square feet, right in the heart of Stuttgart and is slated to open on November 9 of this year. I am betting it will do well. If it doesn’t, Johnny Morris can gobble it up. 😂

It’s out of my league. There’s not reason for me to even darken the doors. A man has to know his place.
