I think I'm gonna put a line out after eating...

We haven't put one out in about 3 weeks, but we've done pretty good so far this year...

I'll hopefully, be posting pics tomorrow with lots of big cats.

We got a lot of rain in Sherwood today, so the water temp might have dropped a bit and it might be muddy, but all of the fresh water running into the lake should push the smell of our doodoo bait all over the lake...

Catfish still gotta eat. Hopefully, they won't all be little dink bullheads this time! I hate them things!:smack:

Didn't make it out Friday night...got sidetracked...

However, I did get a line out tonight. I ran it about midnight and got one fish off. Had it out for a little over an hour.

Hopefully, I'll get some more off of that thing...here's the catch so far.

Son and I put out 2 lines in the Bar ditch at Camp yesterday......did no good during the day, or last night...I think he pulled 2 small flatheads off last night....I was baby sitting the Granddaughter:biggrin: He got up early this morning, and brought in 4 or 5 more flatheads........most were 2-3lbs, 2 were over 3lbs, and the biggest was just over 6lbs!!!

The Big Muddy is dropping out pretty quick, so there was a pretty good current in the ditch and the Long lake as we call it...but got a god mess to stink up a skillet:clap:

sorry I didn't get any pics...........

I've tried some of the homemade stuff before. You put anise oil, spearmint and chicken liver together, add some vanilla. The alcohol in the vanilla seems to toughen up the liver. Anyway, the concoction smells about good enough to eat yourself. It really does well for tightlining, but I have only used it a handful of times for limblines or trotlines. Did OK, though. I think the key is to let the liver sit out and toughen some at room temp or above for several hours. That seems to do the trick. Also have had some luck by letting about half a five-gallon bucket of soybeans or milo get overripe with the rest filled to the top with water. Spreading this out in a particular area seems to get the fish stirring and moving to that spot for whatever you want to throw out on pole or set line.

We caught about 25 Saturday night and yesterday on 4 lines we had out on the Arkansas River around PB. We caught most of them on dead shad. We also caught a few on shrimp. When we ran them the last time yesterday we baited up with mostly bream that we had caught through out the day, so hopefully our buddies will have good luck checking them this morning!

Dang small world.

No. I don't make my own bait. I should, however, put stock in Magic Bait. We use the crap outta that stuff. The fish seem to like it just fine.

I'm running lines on Indianhead. Put em out late, and pick em up early, so we don't disturb the millions of people who fish it for bass.

I don't understand bass fisherman, crappie and catfish taste so much better!

Btw, I pulled another fish of about that size off in the morning trotline run.

The water was real warm...time to start running lines as much as possible...:thumb:

Oh yeah, the Anise Oil trick works. We've used it on our trotlines before to attract the fish. We like to call it "anus" oil. More fun. Good pun.

Fro , try some cheap hotdogs cut into 3/4'' peices. Soak them in strawberry coolaid mix and garlic. Your anus should work good on them too.:fit: If the fish don't bite you could have a midnight snack.:smack:

Yeah, I have real good luck with hot dogs marinated in cherry koolaid and garlic. If I happen to have some chicken blood leftover from livers I'll pour it in as well. Anything to make it stinkier - including some time in the sun. I bet anise oil would only make it work that much better. WD-40 works good too!
