went over in perry county today hoping to chase a few. boy was i rudely mistaken. i stayed till 12:30 and never heard a peep or even saw a hen. it was very windy starting out, but around 8, it got calm. almost perfect. i just knew i was going to hear one. by around 10, i started walking and calling hoping to find one. no luck. oh well, i guess you have some days like that. i will try again tomorrow. it can't get any worse. i know for sure i won't kill one if i don't go.

Lotta leaves on now...if ya hear one good on the roost, when he flies down it will sound like he took off in the other direction...best to wait and maybe make a call or to....don't risk chasin him or somebody else will ambush him...or worse, you!

went this am to perry county. heard 3 birds gobble around 25 times. tried to get to the closest one, but couldn't get there quick enough. got to within 100 yds and he gobbled a couple more times but then he hushed. i stayed put until around 10. it was a great morning though.
