I'm officially hooked on drift fishing for big blues on the river! Been doin it all week after work and only landed a couple of small blues so no pictures. But man let me tell you I've had some explosive bites and busted off enough times that today I upgraded to 50lb braid and 50lb leaders so it's only a matter of time before I post a picture of a big ol ugly blue cat. My current PB on rod and reel is 30lbs out of a lake and the tackle I used to catch it was obliterated by these powerful river fish!

Been doin it all week after work and only landed a couple of small blues so no pictures. I tried that and they kept cuttin me off with their horns! The 6 pounder I caught and the other big bite I got today chafed my leader bad enough I had to replace it.Loosen that drag! You can catch some big fish on light line.

I use 30 lb mono on all mine with zero issues. If I catch a big fish I will cut hook off and retire up about a ft because there teeth bur up the line and make it weak.I tried that and they kept cuttin me off with their horns! Going after those big blues on rod and reel is my favorite. Latch on to a 40lber and up in current is a blast. I’ll be honest I caught a big carp and a drum and I’m not lipping them either lolActually, that was the only way I could get her to hold it up for a picture. She ain’t into lipping one yet.
