The Great Gas vs. Charcoal Debate

Discussion in 'Cooking, Grilling, BBQ, and Recipes' started by JR1, May 18, 2017.

Your Grill Preference

  1. I use gas pretty much exclusively

  2. I use coals pretty much exclusively

  3. I use both depending on the occasion/food

  4. I'm a pansy who is afraid of red wasps, so I don't cook outside

  5. I refuse to cook my own food. I prefer waiting in line, paying high prices, and tipping 25%

I use both. I just finished eating supper, deer burgers on the gas grill. I've cooked supper the last 6 nights and it has been outside. 2 nights gas grill, 2 charcoal and apple wood and 2 nights gas fish cooker.

  3. Ain't much better than a charcoal grilled angus burger. The meat just tastes better; at least to me. GF and all her folks agree. They ain't had charcoal grilled steaks, burgers, and hot dogs in ages so I grilled for all 13 of them a couple years ago. It was a big hit.

Steaks, I use gas, mainly because it's faster/easier. But I prefer charcoal and/or wood. Sure gives a more traditional taste to the meat. Reminds me of when I lived on the river, we'd cook meats pretty often right over charcoal or wood started with charcoal in a hole dug out in the sandbar.

Looks good man. I like Ritz with my salads too. Ever mix in salmon with your salad?

Wait. I don't do the grilled pineapple. I know it's good etc but I just don't do it. However, I ALWAYS use it when marinating thighs, just not fresh pineapple.

I dont eat rabbit food! Which is pretty much anything in a salad. I do like veggies (cooked tho).

I'll tell y'all something to try. Get a sprilazer, squash, zucchini, olive oil, Cavendars and a metal grilling basket.

Run the veggies through the spiralizer
Put in basket and drizzle olive oil over them and Cavendars to taste
Get grill real hot and place basket on grates
Keep turning the veggies for about 10-15 minutes, depending on how many you put in there
You can also add an onion if you choose

This goes great with steaks, sausages, chops, chicken etc
