strange day in the turkey woods

While turkey hunting yesterday I seen five deer running around in the woods. I was not having anyluck with the turkeys so I decided to watch the deer. The deer were running all around through the woods. I thought they were just playing around on a nice cool morning. I got a little closer to them and the smell of a rutting buck about knocked me down. The deer stop just a few yards from me and it look like a doe and four bucks. The doe look like she had been running all morning. The doe stood there for a few seconds and she took off with the four bucks hot on her trail. I seen this same thing in november but never this late. Anybody have an ideal what was going on ? Could a doe be in heat this late ?

It is possible she was in heat...Is the buck to doe ratio way off around there?? Did any of the bucks still have antlers?
have heard a doe will come in every 28 days until she's bred....guess thats why some fawns have spots in Oct and some don't .02
BBD, that's the way I understand it as crazy as it sounds.
I saw something similiar Sunday of opening weekend. A doe came crashing out of the woods running with her tongue hanging out and ran right up the logging road I was walking on. She ran about 5 feet from me and never flinched even though I was obviously moving. She paid me know attention at all, just ran to me and right by me. I figured something was chasing her but never saw anything.:dontknow:

Yes it is possible just because the buck does not have his horns doesn't mean that nature will take it course. The doe will continually come into heat until she is breed. You have seen a sight most dream of. I have been hunting a long time and have only seen something like that once and it was in the later part of January.
