I did not get as many squirrels as last year which was 111. This years total was 77. Weather and other factors kept me from going hardly any during Jan. and Feb.

One of the squirrels I killed was trying to make a hole in the side of my house and I killed it with the grandsons Daisy Red Rider BB gun.

Over all it was a pretty fair season and there should be plenty of squirrels for this next spring season. How did you folks do? :thumb:

I was planning on getting some tails for some fishing lures, but I didnt kill as many squirrels as I planned to. I probably killed 7 altogether. At this rate, it'll only take me about 30 years til I have enough to send to Mepps.

I spent most of the year trying to train a pup so I didn't shoot many. I'd just try to get close enough to make them run timber before I took them so I only ended up with 10 or 12 at the most.

I probably killed a couple a dozen. Why would someone want to kill a large number? Who would eat that many Squirrels ?

Some people might like eating them. I know my son and I do. Also, some people might give some to old timers or sick people that still enjoy eating squirrels but can't get out and hunt them any more.

The group I hunt with (My dad, uncle, cousin, and a coworker and his grandfather) have 800 or more tails to send in to Mepps.
We did a good bit of sill hunting but a lot of hunting with dogs.
Most weekends from Mid December till the end of the season we made two hunting trips on Saturday and one on Sunday if the weather permitted us to do so. Not to mention my uncle and my coworker's grandpa hunted several times during the middle of the week.
So far we've had several big squirrel eatings and plan to feed the whole squirrel club here in the next week or two.

Exactly, I give almost all of the squirrels I harvested to elderly friends that really enjoy getting them. I also clean and quarter the squirrels so all they have to do is cook them and enjoy. :thumb:

Sylamore I appreciate you putting me on to this forum. I always thought there ought to be a forum somewhere for us Arkansawyers. As people who know me can attest, I had rather squirrel hunt as eat.
Take care

I guess the answer to that would be us. The group that I hunt with and our friends can put away a pile of cooked squirrels. :thumb:

I killed 415 squirrels this year. I got to go about 40 afternoons with my 2 year old Mountain cur. We killed about 150 last year and more than doubled it this year. Our best hunt was one day when we hunted from 4:00 til 5:15 and killed 18. He treed 26 and we saw the other 8, but they either got in a hole or got stuck in a nest. All in all i had an excellent season and i'm already anxious for December to roll around and the leaves to fall off! Anybody intrerested in going this next season hollar at me. I love to go and would love to take anybody interested in going.

If I can still afford the gas I might take you up on that offer next season.
Also, if you get a chance you should bring your dog over and hunt in one of the Bradley County Squirrel Club buddy hunts.
