While I have squirrel hunted for years, it has been behind duck hunting and deer hunting for years. Now I find myself enjoying squirrel hunting more and more. I got a deer early, and duck hunting is not what it was a few years back. I was just curious when the squirrel rut typically takes place in northern AR.

I actually run into them rutting from May until Feb. but biologist will tell you something different.

I saw some light chasing this week. It’s usually full bore from Christmas through January but I’m just south of LR in Jefferson county.
