I've shot 6 critters (3 deer and 3 hogs) and got pass thru's every time. What is your setup and where did you hit the deer?

gold tip pro hunter 5572 27inc switchback 65lb the buck was 25 yards quartering away thought I might have hit the other shoulder and that stoped it but today I hit the doe at 35 yards just alittle back and got about 4or 5inc in her and found no blood on either one of them. Dont know what the deal was but it makes me sick to hit deer and not get them.

I shot a doe last night with a slick trick at 10 yards. The shot was at an extreme upward angle so I only hit one lung but got a passthrough. The deer ran about 15 yards and stopped. She looked like she had been untouched so I knocked another arrow, drew back, and took the only available shot I had. Right in the head. Now before you start going into ethics and all that let me explain that this was my first deer with a bow and she was not going to get away. The second shot was only 8 yards from the base of my tree and also was a passthru. On a side note: A hard deer skull will take your sharp slicktrick blades and turn them into very dull serrated blades.

I will guarantee that the slick tricks are not the problem. If you hit "a little back" and only got 4-5 inches of penetration you need to check your bow and its tuning. I have killed 8 animals with those heads and they have never failed.

Obie, my personal belief is that any shot is ok on an already wounded animal. I'll be surprised if you get any grief about the shot.

Throw them away and get a pakage or rage two blades!!!! I just started using them and shot a deer this afternoon and got a complete pass through at 35 and it looked like someone had been dumping buckets of blood also the entrance and exit wound were big enough to put your hand in i am really impressed with them.

Something isn't right there. Are your arrows flying perfect with no wobble? If they are not hitting the same as your field points then it's your tuning. An arrow with any side to side movement is going to be robbed of alot of penetration. You should have no problem with it blasting out the other side if your bow is tuned perfectly.

Yeah, something just isn't adding up. Plus, you said poor penetration and yet you think you hit the offside shoulder. That is excellant penetration. You would have taken out all the vitals already if that is what happened.

Are you sure of your bow tuning? Maybe the arrows are wobbling bad and you aren't carrying through the energy you think you are. I'd do a lot of checking on other things before blaming the heads.
