  1. Is it ok to give safeguard to pregnant dogs, and puppies, and if so what is the dosage on 8 week old pups (catahoulas). I have heard to give it for 3 days for tapeworm removal does this sound right! Thanks for any info!

Safeguard's active ingredient is Fenbendazole. Yes, it is safe for pregnant dogs and puppies. We like to use the liquid Panacur (Fenbendazole) because it can be dosed more accurately and safely. We dose it at 2.25 cc/ 10 lbs of body weight orally for 3 days. If it comes in a paste, it can be hard to get the dose down small enough. Now, we have not had good luck with Fenbendazole treating tapeworms. Typically we use a dewormer called Droncit (Praziquantel). It comes in a tablet form that is given based off of body weight. I hope this helps.
