Deer like people take the path of least resistance. I see them all the time on roads when I'm walking my dogs in my neighborhood.

One of the best bow hunters I knew hunted Wattensaw but was secretive about where he hunted. When I turned 16 and could drive the interstate I saw his vehicle parked along the I40 a few times. I asked him about it and he fessed up. Later that year he asked for some tracking help. I figured we would walk a few hundred yds into the woods to start. Nope! Twenty yards in the woods there hung his stand and the scrape was 10 yards further. As we were tracking the deer that never got 40 yds from the fence line I was astonished at the amount of sign I saw. Eye opener about where mature bucks felt comfortable for sure.
