Any of you trappers had any experience with rubber jaws soft catch traps will they hold just as good as standard jaws and will they protect the feet on nontarget animals better than standard jaws any advice will be greatly appreciated .
About 15 years ago I took instruction from Jackie Reed. He had in the neighborhood of 120 #3 victor rubberjaws working in 3 countys in eastern arkansas.
Rubberjaws will hold as well as any trap once you learn how to set them. It takes some practice to get it right. The trick to good feet is check early and often. He starts checking about midnight. Then when he gets to the end of the line he will take a nap untill after daylight and check again on his way home.
