Has anyone shot or own a Remington 770? I looked at some at Walmart and I liked both the looks and the price. The problem is that the action would not open or close on one of the guns with the clip in. A camo gun for under $500 that my kids could beat around sounds good, but the action seems like a repeat of the the old 710. I doubt if I buy one.

I have both the stevens 200 in .308, an atr 100 in .270, and a cousin that has a .30-06 in 770. He would rather shoot my atr 100 in .270. I also like the Mossberg ATRs better then the Stevens 200 and Rem 770. Just my two cents.

Check out the new Marlin XL-7 bolt actions. Receiving great reviews and around $300 for the camo version. I ordered on last week in the 30-06 to knock around with. Shoots as well as the higher priced rifles and shoulders very nice. Action is pretty smooth. Shooting 1" groups with 150 core-locts at 100 yds. I have been impressed with this little shooter especially for the price.
