Anyone ever used one of these bow presses? I've been looking at buying a press, but when I started pricing them I just about choked. To get one that will press just about any bow runs from $600 to $900. I'm also considering building one and in the process of looking for plans I came across the Ratchet Loc Press. Looks good and they're relatively cheap around $80. But I need some opinions before I waste my money on something that doesnt work or is dangerous.

That is the one I use. It does work very well but it's like all of the other portable ones, it just takes a little time to set it up. It does save you a hell of a lot of money. I suggest try to find something to rest your bow in so you dont have to set your bow in your lap. It sucks. I do it that way.

I chose the Bowmaster press because I take a tackle box with spare blades, serving, etc when I hunt and the Bowmaster fit in it better. I don't think you can go wrong with either one. This is the Bowmaster:

That said, if you're not worried about portability then I'd get a regular stand-up style press. There are several plans on Archerytalk that would be a lot less expensive than $600 to build yourself.

I use bowmaster too, it works great for two of my bows.
