I do not have a EBR yet but am looking. I found several at Ozark armory, they are DPMS lowers and double point uppers I believe. They are around 690.00. My question is this I know DRMS is a good lower but is the price good and how about the upper. Next what is a good upper to look for that is average price?

I ain't the guru, but that sounds mighty inexpensive. DPMS is good stuff, but I've never heard of double point before. Are these rifles that they put together from parts there at Ozark Armory?

For $690.00, what type of upper is it? Flat top, or does it have rear sights?

Almost sounds too cheap to be true!

Well it has a removable rear sight on a flat top. I am unsure of the exact upper the tag said double point. I was in a lil bit of a rush so didn't get to look real close. The tag said new so I don't know if they built or what. Chambered in 5.56/223 16" closable stock. I will try and get back tomorrow and look closer. I just gotta get me a EBR. Shot one the other day and fell even more in love with them, plus just in case a Dem. becomes Pres. don't know what will happen.

What Handgunner said! If its a DPMS lower with an Oly flat-top upper with the rear sight thrown in, (what it sounds like from your description) I'd have to jump on it. I built one from parts myself (DPMS lower, Rock River upper)and spent more than that. Sounds like they're buying uppers and lowers in quantity and putting them together in-house. I'm not saying that's a bad thing, either.

I've never heard of double point, but there is a Double Star. Double Star is a spin off from J&T Distributing, which has been in the AR business for 20+ years.

Sounds like the gun shop may have ordered complete DMPS lowers and then ordered some Double Star uppers and put them on the lower. It only takes 2 pins and about 30 seconds to put an upper and lower together. By ordering uppers and lowers seperately, you avoid the 10% FET that is paid on complete firearms. What I would suggest is to look at the markings on the barrel. Usually on top of the barrel, in front of the front sight post, there is markings on the barrel showing if the barrel is chambered in 223 or 5.56 NATO, if it is MP tested, and if it is chrome lined. A 5.56 chamber is preferable to a 223 chamber, as it would be safe to shoot mil-surp ammo in it. Also, Double Star in general doesn't chrome line the barrels, depending on if that is important to you. At that price, it probably isn't CL.

Here's Double Star's web site... http://www.star15.com/rifles.html

That's not too much less than the prices I was seeing on the DPMS AR's that I was looking at in the book at the local gunshop the other day.
It's time for me to pull the trigger on an EBR so I can start pulling the trigger on an EBR. :thumb:
