Got a 01 xpress with the foam filled pods. anybody ever put the pin type seat bases on these? If so did you just screw or rivet them down. Just wondering if they are strong enough to support them. I don't want to use a pedestal on them, just the seat.

friend has one where he took the stationary swivel where one bolts to the seat and the other to the boat....worked good for him

I did that to my war eagle! Just figured out where I wanted it at, took a hole saw and made a hole big enough for the recess on bottom of seat base. Then used a fractional drill bit to drill holes. Chased threads with a 1/4-20 tap. Used stainless Phillips head bolts w a drop of lock tite applied to them. Been like that for years and no problems! Oh I did put a bead of silicone on bottom of seat base before I bolted it down to keep water out.

Was not any wood in mine. 1/8 in aluminum skin with aluminum tube braces then foam.

You could also use rivet-nuts.

I guess there's no way to tell where the braces are? Did you hit one when you cut the hole?

Believe it or not, I just "sounded" it with a small hammer and was able to tell where they were at.

Banged around on mine today can't feel any bracing other than the edges. Actually feels a little flimsy compared to the rest of the boat.
