State crime lab is backed up years on fingerprints. Ain’t nobody taking fingerprints for a turkey. Get robbed, they prolly won’t take any then either. Unless this is private land behind a gate and not timber company land, we don’t even know it wasn’t a timber scout and Bobcat hunting a feeder. And if you were “videoing strutters” and know how long their beards are, where was the video cam when the birds got shot right under the feeder?

I didn't have a camera out by the feeder. I video the turkeys from my blind. It wasn't a predator who got one, unless he drives a truck. If it were a bobcat, there would be way more feathers scattered around. Very few mature gobblers are taken by predators. I seriously doubt a timber scout had anything to do with it, unless he is a poacher. I put cameras out afterwards on the road to see if they come back in. If they do, they'll find out that there is no longer a feeder or blind there. Again, I'm going back Tuesday to check the cameras. One of four things will take place, 1. the cameras will be there, but the cards will be missing 2. The cameras will be gone because the poacher found them 3. the cameras will be there and the cards will have pics of the poacher and truck 4. the cameras will be there with pics of animals but no poacher because he didn't show back up. If he does show back up and see's that the feeder and blind are gone, he may know I am on to him and not show back up. I can only hope. If I catch him there red handed, God only knows what will happen.

Glad to hear anytime poachers get busted. I know it happens more than we ever hear, but for the amount that goes on, around these parts you just don’t hear of many getting caught. And I know the GWs are out working, trying to catch them. It’s like with most of our judicial system, the consequences should be stricter for those who are caught.

Yep, what’s discouraging the most, to read about these big poaching busts across the country, is the case with numerous kills, during a prolonged investigation. Nail em after one kill and go the next one. No telling how many critters are poached, during the time the LEOs are so focused on one or two individuals. And then, the fine/punishment end up being a paltry proportion of what it should be.

Just got back into town. I checked the cameras. I had a picture of two people on a side by side riding out. It's not real clear, but one of them looks like a woman These weren't the same tracks before. Don't know what they were doing or if they are the poachers. Either way, they are trespassing. I know what their utv looks like, so it's a start. I know they are local. On a brighter note, there are at least two longbeards still around. The third one is no longer around. I'm sure he was the one killed.

Birds come and go he may be around. Who knows it’s all part of the deal these days. As for CSI stuff it ain’t going to happen. You won’t convict a man without proof which would probably require a clear photo carrying a bird with a gun in hand.
