Saw a recipe a while back in the FFG, I believe you made a sort of custard out of the meat.

They are pretty good. Hard to find them ripe before the wildlife gets them first

    Paw-Paw Patch

Where, oh where, oh where is Susie?
Where, oh where, oh where is Susie?
Where, oh where, of where is Susie?
Way down yonder in the paw-paw patch.

    Chorus:
Picking up paw-paws; put 'em in a basket.
Picking up paw-paws; put 'em in a basket.
Picking up paw-paws;put 'em in a basket.
Way down yonder in the paw-paw patch.

Come along, boys, and let's go find her.
Come along, boys, and let's go find her.
Come along, boys, and let's go find her.
Way down yonder in the paw-paw patch

    Repeat Chorus:

She's a queen of old Hawaii.
She's a queen of old Hawaii.
She's a queen of old Hawaii.
Way down yonder in the paw-paw patch.

    Repeat Chorus:

She can teach you how to hulu.
She can teach you how to hulu.
She can teach you how to hulu.
Way down yonder in the paw-paw patch.

    Repeat Chorus:

Use to find them in the woods in Kansas when I went to college. Ate them raw. They were great!

    Paw Paws

My wife ordered a couple of them through a mail order seed catalog. Planted them on the east side of the house at Harrison two years ago. One is about 4 feet tall, the other 3.5 feet. Maybe the grandkids will enjoy the fruit some day.

We have a paw-paw fest at the creek every year. The older women make paw-paw bread and paw-paw puddin'. Anything you can make with a bannana you can make with a paw paw...they are good raw too.

Yep. My inlaws have a bunch of them along a creek on their property. They do disappear quick when they're ripe though. I tried to start some from seed last year, but I messed it up somehow. I dont have a green thumb at all.

You may be surprised. I've seen small, young pawpaw trees with fruit. One tree in particular a few years ago couldn't have been over head-high and it had 4-5 pawpaws on it.

I used to squirrel hunt on a place that had them I would eat a couple to quench my thirst and have a little snack.I think they taste like a cross between a banana and a really sweet ripe persimmon.I love the smell of them in the woods.
