I don't fish much - especially for catfish - so forgive my ignorance - but why do u throw them back? And why keep the big flatheads?

Same here.

Flatheads are apex predators, its good to keep them in check and cull out some of the bigger ones.

The channels and blues get a little strong. Flatheads eat live stuff and never really get a strong flavor. Having said that, Anything over 20 goes back no matter what. Let someone who cares catch them for a potential trophy.

I pretty much fish limb lines in Lake Ouachita so I mostly catch 3-6 lb channels and a few 3-5 lb flatheads. I have never caught many fish over 10 lbs anyway.

I've hate 5 lb flathead and 65 lb flat head.

It's my favorite fish to eat.

This guy is on a roll. Here's a blue he caught last night, it only weighed 45 lbs.

Sorry I have to say this. This guy must be a small feller cause those fish look a lot larger than the listed weight. Nice catches.
