Shinners work great in cool weather. All types of worms work great ,even more so in high water. Turkey or Chicken Liver , prepared dough baits, Shad ,and lots of things as Channel cats are not finicky most of the time.
You say Catfish spawning soon ? Most places it's months away.
We use fresh Catalpa Worms or Chicken guts over our baited holes after the spawn and wear them out. The frozen Catalpa Worms don't work 1/2 as good as live ones.:thumb:
I was gonna say, regular minnows will catch some cats for us. However, trotlining stinkbait works the best. I would say that you can bait treble hooks on the end of a yoyo (instead of the traditional hook), put some stink bait on it, and catch some cats.
