I went squirrel hunting a few times this year with an old timer from camp. I had a blast and now I am interested in a dog of my own. He uses jack Russell's about 3 or 4 per hunt, those dogs were nice but didn't fit well with my kids. I figure mostly just their temperament and not the bread as a whole but I was looking for another bread about the same size that I could work with on squirrels / coons (mostly squirrels) and be a house dog. Is this even an option to have a hunting / house dog? I have read a lot on the net but I figured some of you may have some local experiences with a mild mannered bread that will hunt. I have two smaller kids so I know I can't go out and drop a ball on a proven dog but I do have weekends and acres near me to work with a dog. Lots of questions and I only see the old timer a few times a year so I figured I would go here.

Thanks for the info.

I will give him a call tomorrow. I sent an email late last night after i seen Bowhunters reply. Just hate calling someone in the evening, but its good to be out in the woods almost daily. You know someone always calls when you just set down for dinner and some folks go to bed early...
