    Hail all,

Sling Shots New "Legal Hunting Equipment"???

I am a avid Sling shot shooter and think being able to hunt with one in Arkansas would be a blast!! Sling Shots have come a long way in recent years with the ability to shoot standard arrows as well as the traditional ammo (lead, steel balls...). I have submitted my first email to the Game and Fish concerning this proposition. If anyone has any insight on this process all info will be appreciated!
I have a sling shot video on my you tube site

I think this could be a viable addition to our hunting experience in Arkansas.

what do yall think? yes, no, maybe?

Why not? I dont see anything wrong with it. I made a trip to Colorado some years back on an elk hunt and carried a sling shot with me in case I had a chance at a grouse or one of them little squirrels they got out there. I saw plenty of squirrels but never connected.

I almost carried my slingshot this weekend. I'd have to laugh at a wo if he tried to write me a ticket for using illegal hunting methods. I think slingshot's fall under traditional or primitive weapons seasons.

So should a spear but it doesn't. I asked about it but was told Ar doesn't have a primitive weapons season we only have archery , muzzle loader and modern gun.

Fair enough. I guess I can see the spear thing, too much chance of losing a large game animal? I wonder if any WO would give a ticket for hunting with a slingshot?

I think it would be legal for archery if your slingshot has a 40# draw weight or more.
Sort of like a home made bow.

Is it really anymore of a chance at losing the animal? I mean how many guys don't break out the bow until about a week before bow season?

Don't really know. Just wondering why I can't carry me a slingshot and pop some squirrels. (Not that I would actually hit anything, haven't used a slingshot in years).
