Set out my first 3 traps yesterday. Went to check them late morning today and when I topped the hill I could see a cat caught in my foot trap. She was going crazy. The tree next to my set had deep claw marks all over it. I was very happy to say the least.

Hey fellas, I set out my first trap this afternoon. I have a bunch of critters around the house and thought why not. I used some cat food from the hose with a dirt hole set up. Plus I got some bobcat lure and put it where I want him to put his nose. Now that the trap is set, how long do I give it before I check it? Thanks.

Dug a hole under a rock right off our main four wheeler trail. Threw two boneless pork ribs out of my dad freezer in the hole. Offset my foot trap about 8 inches in front of the hole. It was my first night to have my traps out. Got real lucky, haven't caught anything else. I will sure keep trying. Pretty new to this but I'm hooked now.

Congrats. Caught my first bobcat this winter as well. Caught him in a snare on a varmint trail. Had seen some cat tracks around and just got lucky I guess. We are going to have a trapping article in the fall issue of the Arkansas Bear and Buck Journal.
