I am about to refinish / restore my CVA SQUIRREL 32cal. I believe it was a kit rifle and it was slapped together in the 80s and hunted with. I plan on starting that project very soon.
Cannot wait to see it.
Would like to see your Shop sometime.
Maybe if interested could meet at Sylamore gun range for a shoot.Eat catfish st Jo Jo's on the River.
I have a kit rifle that's 50 , had it 2 years and have not open it yet . Was a gift . My question is what/how to black the barrel , I got some stuff that you rub on . But I'd like to to look GREAT if I can ?
I have an old CVA that the 4H kids shoot that was a kit gun and was left white. The gun is more than 30 years old and has taken a gray patina. It looks pretty good. I was going to blue it and refinish the wood but the kid that has shot it for the last two years said he likes it the way it is.
I had one of those too, a .45...you couldn’t turn around with in in the woods it was so long! Rofl! I took it to a hunt in California in 1997, after the hunt I decided to leave it there, it’s still at my brother’s house hanging on the wall right where I left it! [emoji23]

I have built 3 kits and refinished one muzzloader over the years. Top in pick is a .45 cal spanish made that I refinished, browning barrel, adding inlays and refinishing the stock, barrel is a little rough and I have not hunted with it. Middle is a CVA kentucky rifled kit in .50 that I built. It is a 2 piece stock but I removed the brass spacer and replaced with black cowhorn, browned the barrel and added one inlay. This was my 2nd CVA kit, first one I sold to a friend that just had to have it. I have killed 3 deer with this one, longest shot be 75 yrds. Bottom is a TC Hawken in .54 I built from a kit, this one the barrel was already blued, brass side plate is because I cracked the stock (thats another story) I have managed to kill 6 deer and 1 buffalo with it.
