My Father in law picked up a mohawk in .308, a Rem 1100 with poly-choke, marlin .22 semi, 16 boxes of .308, 6 bricks of .22, and 3 boxes of 12 ga. for $4oo.oo! Mohawk looks like new, made around '72-'79. What's the word on them? Pretty good gun?

It was an early version of what became the Model 7... as I understand it.

Does it have an oddly shaped bolt handle?

If the bore's in good condition, I'd give you half that.. $200 ... just to ease your mind!

It's had less than a box of shells run through it. The stock doesn't have a scratch, It does have a plastic magazine well cover, but you can get a blued steel one for 82 bucks online. Saw the recall notice. It already has been repaired due to the "v" stamp on the trigger. It is pretty short though.

Yep, they were/are short rifles. I think that Rem. chambered some in some hotter magnum rounds too...
