On the way home from Missouri and every duck hunter should go up there an look at their managment areas and set ups. Hunted three different areas all had flooded crop fields with standing corn and bean and some was actually flooded. Killed three limites yesterday and only saw one man on the whole area, today we didnt get but a few but saw a lot of birds, as well as turkey and deer. I know now why we dont kill ducks in Arkansas like we used to. More food on a managment area than we have on all the Game and Fish land in our state. Arkansas Game and Fish is a joke compared to Missouri - and I bet they dont get 1/8 of a cent from sales tax. Tons of areas up there that do not require a draw - which was news to me. Oh yeah non-resident duck hunt is $11 a day plus a stamp

Thats what I heard too, Sad that Arkansas used to plant crops too, now we have some AWESOME MOIST SOIL UNITS with nothing in them:smack:

Wonder why all the birds use the private land and never stick around. :head:

Not only do they get 1/8 cent tax, they get the whole 1/8 cent. Most people do not know that AGFC has to share that 1/8 cent with several other entities like the Arkansas Natural Heritage Commission. I think AGFC gets like a third of that money wheras MO game and fish gets the whole thing.

Mississippi has some very well managed was too. The best ones are all draws unless you luck into a flight day when birds arrive. We never got turned away but we wehave notthe gone this yearis because they changed the rules and the number of reservations.
Draws were not bad for us that didn't live there because it takes aaway home field but I wouldn't want it to be the place I went everyday if I lived there. It would kill y'all in arky to go to a draw because of the folks that travel there and they wouldn't limit the oos chances because of the money

And will continue to be that way until there are some checks and balance to the way the governor appoints his commissioners
No doubt that is the biggest problem but there isn't an area in which they aren't just pathetic from the LEO's to the commissioners and everything in-between make me sick. It's a shame to squander and do such a pathetic job of managing the resources of a state with as much potential as ours. It's truly sad!

It was that way over 25 years ago when dad and I hunted all over Missouri. Very nice public duck hunting.

Hunted around Truman - lake you dont know how fortunate you are - The Arkansas folks spend thier money on new trucks and such more food one one are in Missouri than we have in the whole state. Timber is nice here but we will never hold the numbers they do - last count 4 rivers had 98k - show me an area in Arkansas with 98k ducks -

Kind of like the Game and Fish opening the flood prone areas on private - guess some big shot has family coming in for the Xmas hunt -

Missouri is the shiznit! I've hunted more days in Missouri this year than Arkansas so far. Shoot the past 2 years I've spent arkansas's opening weekend in Missouri bc arkansas duck hunting has become a very cruel joke. Must have a cutdown, must have a mega 25 with an Edge boat, Bayou Meto is the only place to kill ducks. Blah blah blah. I'm a proud arkansan, but I will take Missouri ducks over Arkansas until the AGFC gets their heads out of their rears. Helps my family has a house by four rivers and Schell Osage conservation areas.

Yeah bc ole George Dunklin as thousands of acres of private and well maintained land. So of course you've been killing them everyday. I'm pretty sure this discussion is about public hunting grounds.

Years ago, we would go to Northern Missouri because the season opened one week before Southern Missouri and that was two weeks before the Arkansas season. You could hunt a 3 weeks in Missouri before the season opened in Arkansas, but the game and fish screwed all that up Missouri changed all there opening dates and Arkansas wanting to cater to South Arkansas hunters. Arkansas, should be a split State season also.
