No requirements for the bow. Different accessories you put on it will put you in different classes. For instance at our shoots Hunter class is 12" or less stabilizer, screw in points and no more than 5 pin sight. BHR is the same except glue in points are ok. Unlimited allows magnification and moveable sights,as well as unlimited length stabs, and so on and so forth.
Novice usually has a fixed pin sight requirement...any hunting bow should be ok.
Some clubs and ASA have speed limits....no more than 280 fps. In those circumstances you want to choose your arrow or poundage so you stay below those numbers.
