i am trying to see if there would be interest in this outboard. trying to see if i could sell this one after i purchase a 30hp outboard to recoup some funds. I have a mid 80's, 25hp mercury outboard. shift is in handle, manual start. have not ran this motor in over a year. i had rebuilt carb and was running great all summer and then the last time it started it would only idle. almost positive that a piece of trash is in carb, just have not tore into it yet. it does have wear on prop, it does have one side of cavitation plate broken. this is not a BEAUTY QUEEN. pics would follow if much interest is expressed, but would be later. could tear into carb and get running if interest was expressed. it is located in Jonesboro, and i would be asking, say $300.00 as is, or $350.00 if i taer into carb and get it running. it always ran strong when it was running, i don't know the speed of it, but it pushed my grumman 15/42 along very good. dont really know if it is a long shaft or short shaft, if some one wants to tell me how to figure this out i would be glad check

Short Shaft is made for a 15" transom and a long shaft works best on a 20" transom. You don't see many extra long shafts, they are usually 25". Measure from the top of the inner transom mount where it rest on the top of the transom and the horizontal fin just above the prop.

Let us know what it is.

i measured according to DirtDart instructions, and it appears that it is approximately 18-19 inches. don't know if it makes it short or long shaft. if it also helps, my transom is around 15 inches and center of prop is approx. 7 inches below bottom of boat. my boats have never been about speed, just from getting from one point to another. i don't know what the idea prop location would be on a boat.

As far as pics., i can do pics, but it will be tomorrow/Sunday, if some one is really interested.

I did pull carb today and done some cleaning on it. i need to pick up a gasket set so i can replace the primer diaphragm/needle, because it was to stiff to operate properly.

Yeah, mr c shut me down cuz I broke the rules.
Totally unnecessary in this forum.

You just found out what "shut down" means. :rip:
Just so I know what rule was broken? I went thru the threads and can't figure it out. Not trying.g to be a pot stirrer and have no interest in this other than wanting to know what not to do. Thanks!

The posts were deleted. We really don't discuss administrative issues involving other board members. I'll just say read and follow the For Sale forum rules listed under the Rules tab and everything will be just fine.
