I've on and off considered an AR purchase if for no other reason the fact that we possibly won't be able to buy them some day.

When I read the description of this gun on the link it's all Greek to me. Can you give me a meat a potato explanation of why this is such a great deal. Thanks.

That could end up being a very long & technical answer. Short version: these rifles appear to be made with the proper materials/construction/testing to meet or exceed the standards the U.S. military's rifles have to meet. It's in the same class as the high-quality AR manufacturers like Colt, BCM, Daniel Defense but priced more like the "middle of the road quality" guns.
