I will be taken a hunting trip down south toward Warren at the end of January. Friend of mine has invited me. Also, looking for new members. $350 for the membership and I assume this is good. 3500 acres is the land. Plenty of deer, hogs and turkey. Great accommodations. I am really thinking about joining. Now, for my question. What caliber of bucks around that area? I never hunted that far south. Sounds like a good family environment.

Ive hunted in that area before. It aint exactly a big buck haven but its prolly as good as most places in Arkansas. They have tons of deer though.

Realy depends I have seem some real nice deer come off the saline river if it is in that area I have also seen some pretty nice ones from other camps around Warren but my mother in law is in a camp just on south side of Warren and they have plenty deer but haven't seen a decent buck come off it in years. That is a kill it before the next guy result.

The $350 just for a place to take the kids, get away from moma & to hog & turkey hunt does not sound to bad! Got some buddies you tell me that one of the hottest turkey hunting area's in Arkansas now. Don't hunt down that way anymore but back when we used to back in the late 70's early 80's it really depended where you was at on size. Don't know about now, but back then the deer were thick. Like one guy said, you get down down in the bottoms, it is not a whole lot differant that the bottoms here. Some fairly nice deer. You get back up into the pine knot territory they have alot of what an old man down there back years ago called "Drape Deer"!

The joke was if you had a buddy with you he could help you put it in your pouch on your hunting vest, but if alone you just "Draped" it over your arm & walked out! :smack:

It really just depends on the spot as to the quality of the deer. If most of the clubs in the area shoot everything that moves then good bucks will be pretty hard to come by.

I am not planning to give up my public land. Spend half my hunting here and other half down south. I'd have a chance at turkeys and hogs...

Ive been a member of a camp west of Warren for 8 years now and I'll post a few picture's of the deer we have killed. If your a big buck hunter then South Arkansa isnt the place to go but I love the area and the camp life we have at our place and if the good lord's willing I plan on being there alot more years.

Looks good to me... I'd be satisfied with that. Beats what I've killed this year. Thanks for sharing...

Generally speaking.....south and east of Warren the clubs do a better job of passing up the small bucks. If it's west of town, they tend to shoot everything. You know the name of the club or where it's located?

I would have to agree with the west shooting everything that moves. I wish we could get our camp to pass on some but it's not going to happen. It's Oakdale Hunting Club and we are west of Warren

I actually have a hundred acres that borders Oakdale on the south.......they DO shoot everything.....but in that area I think everyone does. I usually find a big deer or two out there---only 1 this year, but it really could be a pretty good area if everyone would pass on the 1 1/2 year olds.

To each his own, I guess.
