Lake Monticello Crappie

I haven't heard any crappie reports lately for Lake Monticello. Most of the serious crappie fishermen here have been going elsewhere because of the poor fishing. To be honest, I haven't heard of them doing just real well much of any place this winter. I'm sure they've had a few good trips but they've been few and far between. Hopefully that just means more slabs to catch this spring when the fair weather folks like myself decide to go fishing. :thumb:

Most of the guys I have heard catchin slab crappie have been fishin on lake darbone, i guess thats how you spell it.

I'll answer my own question. I went today and had 4 boats on the water when we arrived, so I knew we were in trouble. Kinda windy day but pulled up 13 good crappie and several black bass which we threw back for you good bass fisherman. My first outing for the year and I had a blast. Fishing was slower than usual.
