Title says it all.
We have koons on camera somehow getting pieces of sardines out of bottom of DP traps we are putting out around deer feeders trying to help out our turkeys [emoji884]
Any suggestions on better bait or remedies on making the sardines work would be appreciated.
Thanks
You either are setting the trigger too deep or it would help to polish the trigger slide. That's what I had to do 2 years ago. Went right back to catching em.
Big marshmallow between the trigger and sardine is what I do...
They smell the fish, but they have to pull the marshmallow out to get to it.
Works every time.
Get some grape jelly, smear some on the ground around the trap. Put a little on the mouth of the trap then drop about a teaspoon inside the trap. Never had it fail me it's all I use. they can't resist jelly. Works awesome. Give it a try you won't be disappointed. They absolutely love sweets.
I started keeping track of traps because I was getting robbed a lot. It was the same trap over and over. I quit using it. Need to see how to work it over.
In the meantime, when you put that latch in the trigger, dont put it squarely in the middle. Have it barely on the side so it's easier to trip.
I make some caps to go in the end. Just out of trash stuff. The coons likes chewing on them after the catch.
