Anyone ever hunted over in kansas.

I have but it's been 3 or 4 years ago now. Life just sped up on me and my buddy. We hunted near the Neosho River in Eastern Kansas on his Uncle's private land. Needless to say it was "real productive."

It's actually not that expensive to turkey hunt Kansas if you can find some good land to hunt for free.

I have. Not many turkeys in Kansas:wink: but I guess I will give it another shot about the 9th of April.

We hunted, and still do (when we find time) around Edna, KS. SE KS. it is about 2hrs45min from Springfield Mo. There is a good amount of public land up there that is not over hunted, if you can imagine that. That particular area has an old steam shovel that they did some strip mining with in the late 60's early 70's. Look around on the internet for BIG BRUTUS. We went over there 3 to 4 years ago and had an awesome hunt. We killed Rio's there also, i guess it was a cross between them and the eastern bird really. As to where our birds have the buff colored fan these were almost white and had a different color to there feathers, kinda had a different glow to em. Plenty of water, crop land, and roostin trees for the runnin rio's.

You seing any birds in that area? We might be looking to come up that way again. We have some land in Edna that we hit first and then head to Big Brutus.

Hunted Nebraska and Oklahoma for Turkeys, going to Kansas for the first time on the 8th. Kinda a twofold trip: A) going for some (supposed) fantastic turkey action and B) scouting a ranch to see if we want to book a fall Bow Hunt for some big ol bucks :biggrin:
