Seems to be more and more states every year. Are y’all for it or against it? My opinion on it is it depends on the state and type of terrain.

I don’t know enough about it to have an opinion. Is it due to over harvest, are they just tired of having cams on every tree, or is it just the argument that it’s not fair chase?

Pond Creek NWR effectively banned them several years ago with no personal property left overnight except one deer stand. Have not checked the regs on that this year to see if still in effect. It did really reduce the number of cameras I find in the woods. It also dispersed the hunters some, also. Not so much piling in on one big old buck in one area, now.

I agree that it should be done by area. I dont think in most of the ouachita nat forest there is a problem. We dont have waterholes the wildlife depends on - where hunters line the trees with cameras like out west. I think there are probably a few other, wma’s/nwr’s where it could improve the quality of hunt for the hunter - but overall, I dont think it is that big of a deal like it is out west where you have limited water or limited cover.

I’d like to see cell cameras banned across the board.
There are very very few deer that you can’t kill with bait and a cell camera.

I taught myself how to hunt deer and never used trail cameras and physically scouting areas was my claim to fame, that’s fair chase to me. Plus it kept me fit.
Although I did place one near my mailbox a few years ago when mail started missing.

I like trail cameras but banning them wouldn’t hurt my feelings. I’ve never had a camera stolen but I’ve had my fair share of cameras lost to bears. Guess they don’t like their picture taken

I run a lot of cameras - and they do help us kill a big deer every other year or so. But there are countless decent bucks we pass, but would otherwise shoot if we didnt know the big buck was there.

I think it sucks. Of course they'd do it right when I'm headed back to Kansas. Running cameras there was super fun, but all the deer I shot I didn't have pics of.

I can’t say that running cams on public land has helped me any. The bucks I’ve killed the last three years I’ve never had on camera. I guess it wouldn’t bother me if they did ban them but it has helped clue me in some as to what’s truly coming through. It’s hard enough dealing with the pressure and actually hunting the sign/sign/topo.
