Do you have to get a signal for that app? Or does it still work off satellites?

As long as your around your "HuntZone" HuntStand works pretty good without signal.

OnX hunt. Love it. Using the free version but the paid shows tons of stuff.
I use hunt stand for wind direction but for GPS onx is way better for me.

I use hunt stand a whole lot. You can go in and load the map for the area you're wanting to hunt before you lose service, and it will still be there for X amount of hours, I can't remember exactly how many.

eta: haven't tried onyx but have heard its good.

You can download the area you hunt and you can pull it up without loading it before hand. I was using it today scouting and had no service but still worked good.

I've got GAIA GPS app. No signal required but you do have to download your area map if you'll be in an area with zero service.

It works great, has great topos, doesn't require an annual or monthly fee. It does cost about $20-30 up front, but much cheaper than buying a handheld gps.
