Comfort....the ability to scratch without bein seen....not many skeeters....a comfy chair.....a camcorder....binoculars...a friend....food, water, and a nap! I always use an old piece of carpet in mine!!
I have a Ameristep that I like.I think it's called an outhouse or doghouse or something like that. It's good for kids or wives who wiggle some. And very good for rainy days.I've had turkeys walk right up to mine and not be scared.

It kind'of looks like a Teepee.
I had one just like that once....the first time I opened it...I was in the house, and it busted my lip.....when I tried to put it back in the pack, it took me three days to figure out...and it had a video that came with it to show ya how....I still have the video if you need it:fit:

Thats the only thing I've been reading that everyone is complaining about. I guess I have a few months to practice putting it back up.
I've got one like that. It took me a good hour to put it up the first time. I did it about 4 or five times and got my time way down. I can do it in about 90 seconds now. Took my daughter out last year and had a great time.

Out of the wind + +
Lighter than a climber +
Can go out in jeans and t-shirt +
Can move around if you get uncomfortable +
Keeps the skeeters out +
Holds in heat if you've got a heater +

Have to carry a chair with you -

I've had deer within 5 yards of mine the day I set it up.
Man I got the itch bad this year. After I missed that 14 point I told myself that I would hunt him untill he's dead lol. Ended up buying some mineral blocks and some Deer Go Crazy. Tried a corn feeder last year end had no results but I sorta put it out on a tree line in a cutover.
got me an outhouse and it was a little small for me. Then got a doghouse, it's great. took a little practice to fold, now it's a piece of cake, easy to cary, lot's of room. With a good chair I can sleep soooo good. Just hope the sleeping while huntin police don't catch me.
I've got an older version of the Brickhouse. I've only used it for turkey hunting but I can set it up or take it down and have it packed in just a few minutes.
Got 2 Doghouses, and an Outhouse........use the outhouse when I'm hunting out on the Bar, by the river, had deer almost walk up and stick their nose in the window:up: I've got 1 wood platform, that's 4ft high, and just a little bigger than the Doghouse...gets ya up off the ground, and gets your scent up of the ground some...very comfortabe, and cozy when ya light the heater:up:
That would be a good idea in a light rain it is not too bad but in a heavy rain plan to get wet.

I used 2 cans of "Camp Dry" on mine and water just beads up and rolls off the top. You do get it on the ground under you if your in the wrong spots and it will blow in the windows.

Using it was well worth the trouble. I did about 4 layers and let it sit out for a couple days in the back yard to dry.
I've got the doghouse and it looks real similar to the one you bought there. It is really not hard to put back together after a few tries. I hate to admit it, but I did the John Stiles thing and popped it open in the house when I first got it too!:smack: It is really similar to the sunshades for your car window the way they fold up and in together on the frame. Good luck with your new blind, I'm sure you will be satisfied.
which one is worth the money if you were going to buy one. i got a lease in dallas county for this year and was just wondering.:head:
I really like the doghouse (Ameristep) that I have. It is easy to put up and take down and has a carrying bag made like a backpack. It is also pretty inexpensive compared to others. Just my 2 cents...
thanks for the info. i know i'm going to buy one. there's quite a few out there don't know which one
Got a question on ground blinds....how do they do when it rains? I'm not a big fan of being soaked when I'm huntin'.

I've never really been in a heavy downpour in mine, but never had a problem with light rain. I think it would be similar to tent material, so probably you could put the same stuff you use to waterproof tent seams on the seams of the groundblind and shouldn't have any problem with that. Somebody else may be able to answer your question better though.

if you have you're own land or lease land do you pack it up after each hunt if you're going to hunt the same place that afternoon or next day or take it down each time. just wondering first time to lease land and wanting to know what the rest of you do:head:
